@alfaromeoorlen unveil stunning #C42 livery for 2022 campaign. #F1
Alfa Romeo C42 – Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN revealed it’s latest contender, the C42’s striking new red-and-white livery for the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season.
After a busy week of testing at the Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya, the C42, which was running in a camouflage livery in Spain – was unveiled in a series of CGI images and videos released to media and fans worldwide.
The C42 was also displayed in real time in classrooms, kitchens and living rooms for Alfa Romeo fans all around the world through Augmented Reality, via use of a QR code promoted on merchandise and online.
The Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN C42 is the first car produced at Hinwil under the new era of radical rules and regulations beginning in 2022 designed to encourage closer and more competitive racing.
The C42 was made under the guidance of Technical Director Jan Monchaux, with this car a revolutionary departure from the past as it features a ground-effect floor, an updated aerodynamic package and Pirelli 18-inch low-profile tyres.
Alfa Romeo’s famous Centro Stile designed the C42’s stunning livery, recalls historical designs of the past, the heritage of the legendary Italian car manufacturer and Sauber Motorsport, celebrating the Hinwil based-outfit’s 30th year in Formula 1.
Title partners, Alfa Romeo and ORLEN, feature predominantly on the C42 along with the branding of the many sponsors, returning and new, joining the team.
Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN finished ninth in the World Constructor’s Championship standings scoring 13 points last season and hopes it can push forward in the sport’s new era of rules and regulations.
In an all-new driver line-up for the 2022 campaign, ten-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas joins the Hinwil based-squad from World Champions Mercedes, partnering alongside promoted FIA Formula 2 driver Zhou Guanyu, who becomes the first full-time Chinese F1 pilot and Robert Kubica who continues as the team’s test and reserve driver.
In testing, a series of mechanical glitches plagued Alfa Romeo to remain in the garage for long hours, and ultimately managed 175 laps of the Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya, putting them ninth out of the ten outfits on the mileage charts.
Looking ahead to the 2022 season, Team Principal Frederic Vasseur explained:
“The start of the season is always an exciting time, one in which we see the fruit of the work of hundreds of people over a long period of time. The C42 is a car we look forward to seeing racing, not just because it is the first we built in this new regulations cycle, one in which racing should be closer and more thrilling, but because we have the utmost confidence in this car helping the team make a big step forward towards the front of the grid.” Vasseur concluded. Bottas added:
“I am impressed by our new car, the C42. I think the livery is really beautiful, the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile did a brilliant job. It’s my first car at Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, of course, which makes it special, and I am really looking forward to being on the grid in Bahrain with it. What is exciting is that we have no idea how that first race is going to pan out. Testing helped us confirm our expectations of where we stand, the progress we have made with the car, but now we are getting closer to the moment that really matters. Since I joined, I have seen so much motivation within this team: everyone is pushing a lot, trying to work harder than the others to be competitive, and that in turn gives me that extra boost when I am in the cockpit.” Bottas concluded, credit to Sauber Group for the quote.
Zhou excited for the season said:
“I am fully pumped up for the season and seeing the C42 in the livery in which I will race it definitely makes it real. We are at the beginning of a new era, with new cars and new regulations, and this creates an opportunity for all teams to make progress since we are all starting from scratch. Everyone at Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN has been incredibly helpful since I joined and seeing all the hard work, the commitment and motivation from everyone, in Hinwil and at the track, fills me with pride and excitement. I can’t wait to be on the grid with this car and work with my team to bring home the results we are targeting together.” Zhou concluded, credit to Sauber Group for the quote.
Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, along with their other nine rivals, will have another chance to gain more mileage with the new cars at the Official Pre-Season test at the Bahrain International Circuit from Thursday March 10-Saturday March 12 before the season-opening Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 a week later from Friday March 18-Sunday March 20.
