2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival – The sound of Formula 1 cars are set to return to the streets of Adelaide this weekend as the Adelaide Motorsport Festival makes it’s triumphant comeback from Saturday March 24-25.

Held on the Victoria Parklands section of the famous Adelaide Street Circuit, the “museum in motion” is frequently changing, with a different category of vehicles on track every ten to 15 minutes.

 

The headlining Formula 1 cars hitting the event include the returning two Ferrari F156/85’s with the number 28 once again driven by none other than the pilot who raced in that car itself in Stefan Johansson, the highly-popular Adrian Newey-designed 1989 Leyton House March CG891, the Lola Larrousse LC88, Alan Jones’ 1985 Haas Lola THL1, the 1994 Arrows Footwork FA15 and the powerful 1.5 turbocharged Benetton B186.

 

Newest additions to the event are the Ross Brawn-designed 1988 Arrows Megatron A10B, the pair of 1989 Brabham BT58’s Judd’s who were driven by Martin Brundle and Stefan Modena and the 1992 Brabham BT60 Judd V8.

TipoF1 is the new category entering the Adelaide Motorsport Festival scene in 2023, featuring the ex-Dallara IR-07 IndyCar once driven by Alex Tagliani, the debuting Rodin FZed, Arrows AX3 seater, S5000’s, Formula 5000’s, older Formula One machinery and a Formula Renault.

 

Other categories at the event include a stacked list with Open Wheelers, V8 Supercars, 5L Touring Cars, Heritage Touring Cars, Sports Prototypes, GT Style, Invitational, Demonstrations – Electric, Bikes, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche Rennsport, Mercedes Silver Stars, Classics, Time Attack, Drift and Modified Sedans.

  • A legendary Porsche 962C from the Kremer Racing Team adorning the famous Leyton House livery will feature in the Invitational category for the event.

 

  • A Gen-2 ABB FIA Formula E car will be on display for the first time in Australia at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival in the RAA E-Motion Zone.

 

  • The Hyundai Kona EV Electric Rally Car will be hitting the track in the electric demonstrations.

 

  • One of McLaren’s weapons, the brutal-sounding early 70’s M8E CanAm monster will be part at the event as part of celebrating McLaren’s 60th year history.

 

  • Broc Feeney’s 2022 VALO Adelaide 500-winning Holden ZB Commodore headlines the new V8 Supercars category.

 

  • The Rodin FZed, which is derived from a Lotus T125 F1-inspired car, will have it’s track debut this weekend in the new Tipo F1 category and it’ll be its first appearance in Australia.

 

  • A Dallara IR-07 IndyCar, which was once raced by Conquest Racing in the IndyCar Series from 2008-2011, and most notably in the hands of Alex Tagliani who took the car to fourth-place on the streets of Surfers Paradise at the Gold Coast Indy 300 in 2008, will be the first time a modern IndyCar has appeared at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. It will also run in the Tipo F1 category.

 

The big headline driver heading down is Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s Valtteri Bottas, he will be at the track Sunday piloting the Alfa Romeo GTV Group A Touring Car as well as the 2016 Bathurst 1000-winning Holden VF Commodore. Other famous racers include the aforementioned Johansson, David Brabham, New Zealander Hayden Paddon, V8-legend Craig Lowndes and other Supercar drivers such as Tim Slade, Todd Hazelwood, Thomas Randle and more.

 

All categories are currently running a private testing day around the circuit today before festivities officially begin tonight with the Peak Hour of Power and East End Street Party. The action on-track runs tomorrow and Sunday.
