@HaasF1Team release livery for their 2022 challenger, the VF-22. #F1 #VF22
Uralkali Haas F1 Team have unveiled their new livery for their 2022 contender, the VF-22, which is the first to be designed under Formula 1’s sweeping new raft of rules and regulations.
To promote closer wheel-to-wheel racing, Formula 1 reset the rules, with the new cars featuring a ground effect floor, a more simplified front and rear wing – along with Pirelli 18-inch tyres.
Haas gave fans a first look of their colours for the 2022 campaign ahead of the first pre-season test, which begins with a low-key three day sessions at Spain’s Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday February 23.
This is Haas F1 Team’s seventh Formula 1 car in the sport since arriving onto the scene in 2016.
The predominantly white livery is an evolution from last year’s predecessor, the VF-21.
Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin will compete in their second season for the team with Pietro Fittipaldi as Test and Reserve Driver.
The North-Carolina headquartered team’s new challenger, the VF-22 will feature input from their highly-rated Technical Director Simone Resta, who joined the squad from Ferrari just in-time to help develop the 2022 car – as Formula 1 enters a new technical set of rules and regulations.
Technical Director Simone Resta explained:
“This is probably the most complex project the Uralkali Haas F1 Team has dealt with to-date for many reasons. It’s a completely new set of regulations and this season we’ve brought in a new team to manage the creation of the VF-22,”
“Not everyone is new but a good chunk of people have joined with a revised structure now in place. I consider this as a great success in the process. We’re still early in the project and going through a transitional season of working together on a car for a full year, but if we look back where we started, this team is already a success.” Resta concluded. After having endured a point-less to finish last in the 2021 World Constructor’s Championship standings, Haas will be looking to push their way back into the midfield in the 2022 season, as they continued to be powered by Ferrari – with the Kannapolis-Banbury outfit acquiring additional personnel from the Scuderia, as the Maranello-marque sought ways to cut down it’s staff to meet cost cap restrictions.
Team Principal Guenther Steiner added:
“We all know what the team is capable of, we’ve proved that in the past, and with this new car – born out of a completely new set of regulations and with our new design team in place – I’m confident we can showcase once again that we can compete on weekends,”
“It’s been a tremendous effort by everyone involved and now comes the fun part of getting the new car to the circuit and dialling in all the elements. Last season was a long one but I’m confident that 2022 will see us back in the mix with the VF-22.” Steiner concluded. Credit to Haas F1 Team for the quote.
As it has been the case from the past few years, following the release of it’s digital renderings, Haas will reveal it’s physical car in the Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya pit-lane on the first morning of pre-season testing.
It is anticipated that the cars will look noticeably different compared to their digital counterparts, with teams sure to be keeping major part of their designs under-wraps as long as they can, to avoid giving away clever ideas they have had when designing to the new set of technical rules and regulations to their rivals.
