On Thursday November 14, the crown jewel of Formula 1, the Monaco Grand Prix was given a six-year extension following an agreement with the Automobile Club of Monaco that runs through the 2025 campaign.

Part of the Formula 1 calendar since it’s beginnings in 1950 and present since 1955, the Monaco GP is one of the most famous sporting events in the world and one of the most challenging for the drivers.

Located on the banks of the French riviera, the pack winds it’s way through the streets of Monte Carlo, tackling the slowest corner on the F1 calendar, the Loews Hairpin, the iconic Casino Square and the Swimming Pool Complex.

Five of the current drivers on the grid alongside legends such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda have triumphed on the famous 3.337km Circuit De Monaco.

Fernando Alonso, Sir Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have all won the event multiple times, alongside Sergio Perez and home favourite Charles Leclerc – who created history this year by becoming the first Monegasque driver in Formula 1 history to win their home Monaco Grand Prix.

The 2024 weekend was watched by an audience of over 70 million fans worldwide and was one of the most watched edition of the Monaco Grand Prix in US history, and the third-most watched F1 race of all time in America.

With this new deal, the Automobile Club of Monaco, in coordination with the famous Principality, has made a commitment to Formula 1’s sustainability plans and it’s ambition to create a calendar, which is sustainable for its stakeholders.

The 2025 edition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix De Monaco will take place from May 23-25 next year and will mark the 75th anniversary of its debut, whilst from 2026, the event will be contested on the first week in June each year and splits away from sharing the final weekend in May with the iconic Indianapolis 500.

President and CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali said: “I’m delighted that Formula 1 will continue to race in Monaco until 2031. The streets of Monte Carlo are unique and a famous part of Formula 1, and the Monaco Grand Prix remains a race that all drivers dream of winning. I would like to extend a special thanks to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club of Monaco and everyone involved in the extension of this important partnership. This agreement signals a new era of partnership and innovation between Formula 1 and Monaco. It is the future focused leadership of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco which will allow us to create an optimised calendar, which reduces pressure on logistics, and to decrease the environmental impact of our global championship, as we continue the path towards our Net Zero goal by 2030.” Domenicali concluded. President of the Automobile Club of Monaco, Michel Boeri commented: “I would particularly like to thank H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Stefano Domenicali, and everyone involved in the extension of this contract. The signing of this new agreement with the Formula One Group until 2031 not only confirms the strength of our relationship but reaffirms our commitment to offering all visitors an unrivalled, first-class experience at race weekends. The Monaco Grand Prix is the most important sporting event here and continues to attract hundreds of thousands of spectators to the Principality and millions of global television viewers worldwide.” Boeri concluded. On Tuesday November 12, BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team entered into an agreement with Mercedes High Performance Powertrains and Mercedes Grand Prix from the start of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season to use their Power Unit and Gearboxes.

The multi-year deal sees Mercedes supply the Enstone-based squad with power-trains and gearboxes for the duration of the new rules and regulations from 2026 until at least the 2030 campaign. (Sources do say that Alpine will build their own gearboxes in-house at Enstone from 2027).

Last month, Alpine announced they will shutdown their works engine programme at the end of next season as part of their “Hypertech” transformation project.

The Enstone outfit had already been in talks with other manufacturers on getting a customer engine supply with Mercedes becoming the front-runner to score the deal.

Alpine will continue to make their own power-trains through the 2025 season before swapping in 2026, when new engine regulations – which feature a greater focus on the battery and 100% sustainable fuels – will be brought in.

Alpine scored their best finish to date last time out in Brazil with a double podium, which sent them to sixth place in the World Constructor’s Championship standings with three races remaining.

The team are currently going through a transitional period, with Oli Oakes having taken over as Team Principal and Flavio Briatore returning to the team as an Executive Advisor.

He was recently FIA Formula 2 and 3 Race Director.

On Tuesday November 12, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team announced that Dan Fallows will step down from the role as Technical Director – but the Silverstone based-squad said he will remain with the group.

Fallows joined Aston Martin from Oracle Red Bull Racing in April 2022, playing a major role in their growth and development – which saw the team score eight podiums through Fernando Alonso last year.

However, the Silverstone based-entry’s technical department has expanded in recent times, as Canadian billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll pushed on with his ambition of making Aston Martin a world championship-contending team.

Design legend Adrian Newey and former Ferrari technical chief Enrico Cardile are set to join the squad alongside recent signing Andy Cowell, who took the place of Martin Whitmarsh as CEO.

Group CEO Cowell said: “I would like to thank Dan for his contribution to Aston Martin Aramco in the last two years. Dan led the team to the success of the AMR23 which secured eight podiums last season.” Cowell concluded. Credit to Aston Martin for the quote.

Fallows added: “In my time at Aston Martin, it has been a joy and a privilege to guide the technical team on their journey towards being race and championship winners. It is time for me to pass on the baton, but I look forward to watching the team’s future success, which I am sure will come soon.” Fallows concluded. Credit to Aston Martin for the quote.

It remains to be seen what role Fallows will have in the group.

The Silverstone based-outfit have endured their most difficult season in 2024. They sit fifth in the World Constructor’s Championship standings, with a best- race finish of fifth at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
