Tsunoda Ricciardo AlphaTauri 2024 – This morning Scuderia AlphaTauri announced it’s full driver line-up for the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship season as Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo continue to race for the Faenza based-outfit.
Current Super Formula title contender and AlphaTauri driver Liam Lawson will remain as the team’s reserve driver for both Red Bull teams, focusing on development work, simulator sessions and testing along with attending Grands Prix full-time.
Home favourite Tsunoda, joined the Faenza based-squad in 2021 and has become a fierce racer who has improved race-by-race. His natural talent and constant improvement also his ability to integrate into the team were seen as major factors for further development as a driver.
“I’m so happy to announce that I will be staying with Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2024 Formula 1 season”, explained Tsunoda upon his announcement in Suzuka. “I’m looking forward to continuing to fight and collaborate with the team and Daniel. Obviously, I’ll push as much as possible for the rest of the season and beyond, to progress as a driver. I’m grateful for Red Bull and Honda, for continuing to support and believe in me, and very happy and thankful to continue the partnership.” Tsunoda explained. Credit to AlphaTauri for the quote.
Ricciardo, joined what was Scuderia Toro Rosso back in 2012, to earn a seat in the senior team Red Bull in 2014 replacing fellow Australian-compatriot Mark Webber, where he scored eight Grand Prix victories and numerous podiums. The Perth-born Australian’s personal attitude and racing experience were crucial assets in 2024.
Ricciardo is currently sitting on the sidelines due a broken hand injury sustained in a crash during practice at the Dutch Grand Prix but impressed the team when he raced for them in Hungary and Belgium.
Daniel Ricciardo added: “I’m stoked to be driving with Yuki again next year and continuing the journey with Scuderia AlphaTauri. Following the progress, we have already made and the plans for the future, it’s an exciting time for the Team. We are building and it is a great feeling. There is a lot of work to do, but we are heading in the right direction and there is a lot to look forward to. Bring on 2024!” Ricciardo concluded. Credit to AlphaTauri for the quote.
Ricciardo is continuing to battle for his return to full fitness and whilst the Australian is unlikely to return at the next race in Qatar, the plan remains for him to comeback at some-point this campaign – when he is ready.
Lawson will remain in place while Ricciardo recovers.
There is only one more seat remaining on the grid for 2024 and that’s with Williams Racing alongside Alexander Albon. Logan Sargeant is currently fighting to prove to the Grove based-team that he deserves a second campaign.
