Piastri Singapore GP FP2 – Championship leader Oscar Piastri topped the second practice session for McLaren at the Singapore GP ahead of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula 1 Team’s Isack Hadjar who placed second and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who rounded out the top three.

The Australian posted the best effort on a 1:30.714 on the C5 red side-walled softer compounds and was 0.132 seconds ahead of Hadjar whilst Verstappen was a further 0.143 seconds off in third.
After a short two-minute lull, Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg lead the pack onto the Marina Bay Street Circuit and with all drivers on a set of the C4 yellow-marked medium tyres.
Ther German registered the first effort of a 1:33.788. which was rapidly beaten by Piastri’s 1:33.424.
RB’s Liam Lawson slotted into third with his 1:33.864 as Verstappen planted his RB21 at the top on a 1:33.128 – then Norris pipped the reigning world champion with a 1:32.956.
Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli then shot to the top on a 1:32.883 with a purple sector three to be a slim 0.073 seconds clear of Norris.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc set three personal bests at the eighth-minute-mark to go fourth in the order posting a 1:33.203 to be 0.320 seconds off the Italian’s best time.
The other SF-25 entry of Sir Lewis Hamilton with a purple middle sector jumped to third to be 0.087 seconds off Antonelli’s benchmark.
Piastri with a purple sector three then jumped to P1 on a 1:32.739, but this was short-lived as Norris with two purple opening sectors snatched top spot with a 1:32.226 and 0.513 seconds clear of his championship leading team-mate.
Williams’ Carlos Sainz shot to third setting a 1:32.791 as Aston Martin’s FP1 time-topper Fernando Alonso split both the Spaniard and Antonelli in fifth.
RB’s Liam Lawson briefly held second with his 1:32.645 but was pipped by Verstappen’s 1:32.345 and the Dutchman was 0.119 seconds off Norris’s best effort.
RB’s Isack Hadjar put his Honda-RBPT VCARB02 up into fourth and 0.446 seconds off Norris.
Leclerc then with three personal bests at the 14th minute of proceedings jumped to fifth and wounded up 0.450 off the leading McLaren.
Sainz followed and with a purple final sector slotted into second to be a close 0.080 seconds off Norris’s best time, but this was beaten by Alonso on the C3 medium compound to be only 0.027 seconds off the Briton.
Piastri with two purple sectors went quickest with a 1:31.716 whilst Hamilton jumped to second – Norris then with two purple sectors moved up into second to be only 0.007 seconds off his McLaren team-mate.
Replays showed with 42 minutes remaining Mercedes’ George Russell suffered a shunt at turn 16 after carrying too much suffering into the right hander – having a rear lock-up and went straight into the barriers – damaging his front wing and suffering a puncture.
The Briton managed to recover and limp home back to the pits.
After the debris was cleared from turn 16 by the marshals and a nine-minute delay and with 31 minutes remaining – Leclerc was the first to head out on the mediums along with team-mate Hamilton whilst the majority emerged on the C5 softer rubber for their qualifying simulation runs – Alonso was on the harder C3 tyre.
Leclerc put his Ferrari up into fourth with a 1:31.985 whilst Hamilton went fastest with a 1:31.491.
Haas’s Oliver Bearman slotted into third, whilst his team-mate Esteban Ocon shot to P1 with a 1:31.480 with three personal bests whilst Sainz jumped to third to end up 0.229 off the Frenchman’s best effort.
With 27 minutes left on the clock a second red flag was brought out after Lawson exiting out of turn 17 suffered a slide out of the corner and hit the wall with the rear right tyre of his car and sent the front right tyre into the wall causing a puncture, scattering debris all over the circuit as the Kiwi parked his VCARB02 at the pit-entry.
Following a 10-minute delay – there was drama in the pits as Leclerc hit Norris into the wall damaging the Briton’s front wing after the Ferrari was released into the McLaren’s path.
Hadjar was the first to emerge on the C5’s to begin his qualifying simulation stint with the Frenchman moving up into P1 with a 1:31.440 following three personal bests.
Williams’ Alexander Albon moved up into ninth place as Alonso returned back to the top with two purples with a 1:30.877 – this was momentarily as Verstappen posted a 1:30.857 to be a slim 0.020 seconds clear of Alonso at the top.
Leclerc with two personal bests went up to fifth with his 1:31.466 as the Ferrari driver ended up 0.609 adrift of Verstappen’s benchmark.
Piastri was next with a purple final sector to snatch P1 with a 1:30.714 to be 0.143 seconds ahead of the Dutchman as Yuki Tsunoda slotted into ninth and 0.994 off Piastri’s best time.
Sainz was up to fourth splitting Aston Martin pairing Alonso and Lance Stroll with his 1.31.299 effort.
Norris with two personal bests moved up into fourth to be 0.483 seconds off team-mate Piastri.
Ocon put his VF-25 entry into fifth as Hadjar with the best final sector shot to second place and 0.132 adrift of Piastri’s time.
Stroll then set the best sector three time but could only remain in sixth and 0.508 seconds down on Piastri whilst replays showed Hamilton hit the wall with his rear left abandoning his hot-lap.
Replays also showed Bearman nearly had a Russell-like moment into the wall and managed to survive.
The session ended with Piastri, Hadjar and Verstappen the top three.
Norris split the Aston Martin duo of Alonso and Stroll in fifth place.
Ocon was seventh and in-front of Williams’ Sainz as the Ferrari’s of Leclerc and Hamilton rounded out the top ten.
