@ScuderiaFerrari unleash spectacular-looking #SF23 for the 2023 #F1 season. #F1CarLaunches2023
Scuderia Ferrari SF23 Launch – Scuderia Ferrari have launched their new 2023 contender, the striking SF-23 during Valentine’s Day in a special presentation from the team’s Maranello Headquarters in Italy.
Following Monday’s reveals from McLaren and Aston Martin, it was Ferrari’s turn to unveil their new challenger, which of course sports it’s traditional, red-dominated livery design.
Ferrari’s new car initially was titled, by project number “675”, before being given it’s SF-23 name, which continues the naming convention introduced by the Maranello-marque in 2015.
Present to oversee the event was new Team Principal Frederic Vasseur, who arrived from Alfa Romeo over the winter – who began working for the team in early January – as the replacement for Mattia Binotto.
With the new season just around the corner, Vasseur will be working to fix the problems that ended the Scuderia’s hopes of beating Red Bull Racing to championship glory last year, with unreliability, strategic errors and driver mistakes all plaguing their campaign.
Whilst there was a change at the top of the team, Ferrari’s driver line-up of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will continue together for a third season, with Leclerc stating he feels “more mature” following his and the Prancing Horse’s recent setbacks.
Vasseur also gave a positive outlook for the Maranello-based outfit after his first couple of weeks at Ferrari, explaining that everything he observed so far up to now, is a promising sign that the Scuderia have everything they need to win.
Vasseur said:
“I think you can have a look at the reasons of the last decades, the wheel is always rolling, and it’s just a matter of continuous improvement. For me, if we are doing a better job than the others in a couple of months or years, then we will be able to win,”
“It’s not that anything is set in stone and, if you look have a look at some teams, they were in a very dominant situation a couple of years ago, and they are nowhere today,”
“You don’t have to take these directions that ‘okay, it was like this the last decade, or last 20 years, and it will stay like this in the future’. F1 is a changing world, and we just have to be focused on the job, on the performance, and everything is possible.” Vasseur concluded. Credit to Ferrari for the quote.
Ferrari’s last world championship triumph was back in 2008, when they clinched their 16th Constructors’ Title, whilst their previous Drivers’ Crown came from Kimi Raikkonen the campaign before.
Leclerc who came runner-up in the Driver’s Championship and reflected on the day, his targets for season explained:
“Our whole team has put a lot of work into this new car and seeing it in front of us for the first time just feels amazing. It means that the start of the season is very close, which is always an exciting moment,”
It felt great to drive it here at Fiorano today, sharing the experience with our tifosi and partners. We still have to wait for the first real laps at testing to make any real assessments though,”
Our target for the season will be to do even better than last season, bring home more victories and be more consistent. The biggest goal will be to win both championships and we will do everything to achieve this.“ Leclerc concluded. Credit to Ferrari for the quote.
Sainz speaking on the launch and looking forward to the upcoming campaign added:
“Having the chance to unveil the car in front of our tifosi has been great as this is my first launch event in front of an audience since I joined the Scuderia. I would like to thank everyone who has joined us on such a special day, both here and online around the world,”
“This car is the result of the passion and hard work of everyone in the team during the past months and it certainly looks like another step forward. Our goal cannot be other than to keep pushing forward and trying to bring home more race wins, being competitive and fighting for the World Championships. I can’t wait to hit the track in Bahrain and get this new season going!” Sainz concluded. Credit to Ferrari for the quote.
After the Maranello-based outfit completed a shakedown with the SF-23 at Fiorano. The team will soon head to the Bahrain International Circuit for pre-season testing from February 23-25, with the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix following a week later.
